How They Met: Sura and I initially met at a home football game in 2000. From there we would always bump into each other on campus, we finally exchanged numbers and we talked every single day for hours on hours...lol

Their Time at FVSC/FVSU: Our time at FVSU was great, we were always hanging out and talking on the phone. Sura and I would meet every Tuesday and Thursday morning after class at the library. It was quiet there, we would study together and spend time getting to really know each other.

Post-graduation Journey: We were married in 2010 and all of our closest friends from FVSU were in the wedding. FVSU played a huge role, without FVSU we would of never met. The campus brings back so many great memories and FVSU was what truly built us and the foundation of our relationship. We are proud to say our son Landon Gates committed to play basketball at FVSU and will attend in the fall of 2026!

Advice for Current Students: Keep God first! Remember college is about building your own identity, so keep that mind when making decisions. The most successful college couples act as "accountability buddies'" and focus on long term goals together."
